Increasing Incomes in Poor Communities

The overarching goal of AMAP is to increase incomes in poor communities by enhancing the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises. AMAP Enabling Environment IQC achieves this by promoting the development of legal, regulatory and policy environments that facilitate improved competitiveness and distribution of benefits, including increased incomes at all levels of an industry or value chain. These policy changes provide a framework for long-term and sustainable progress.

As part of the Management Systems International (MSI) consortium, ACDI/VOCA takes a lead role in advocacy training, association and cooperative law/structures, and finance. ACDI/VOCA is well-positioned to fulfill obligations of AMAP Enabling Environment due to our record of success in advocacy through association and cooperative development. For example, in Romania and Georgia, we have worked to create a favorable business climate for entrepreneurs by advocating market-based legislation and policies, including developing associations to serve as advocates of pro-business policies.
