Bernie Runnebaum
Chief of Party, Uganda PL 480 Title II Program
ACDI/VOCA-Uganda Chief of Party Bernie Runnebaum has more than 35 years of experience in agricultural cooperative management, commodity marketing and monetization. He currently manages ACDI/VOCA’s largest project in its history, the five-year $74 million USAID PL 480 Title II program in Uganda to reduce food insecurity and enhance nutrition in vulnerable populations through smallholder agricultural development and targeted food distributions. Mr. Runnebaum also headed ACDI/VOCA’s previous 2002-2006 Uganda PL 480 Title II Program and contributed to managing the Rwanda PL 480 Title II program. He has had extensive experience as a monetization consultant in other countries, including Eritrea and Kyrgyzstan. Previous to his work with ACDI/VOCA, Mr. Runnebaum managed for seven years one of Kansas’s largest agricultural cooperative associations, with an annual sales volume of $11 million and 65 employees. He worked for eight years in grain merchandising, serving country and terminal elevators, feed mills and feedlots in the Great Plains region.
